About
Skydive NZ Fox Glacier: Freefall Over the Glaciers
On the wild West Coast of the South Island, Skydive NZ Fox Glacier offers one of the country's most extraordinary jump settings — freefall above ancient glaciers, dense temperate rainforest and the peaks of the Southern Alps, where the mountains tumble almost to the Tasman Sea.
About the dropzone
Few places on earth put glaciers, rainforest, coastline and high peaks in a single frame the way the Fox Glacier region does. The West Coast's dramatic, untamed landscape is the whole appeal here — a jump backdrop that's genuinely unlike anywhere else in New Zealand, and a natural highlight of the glacier-country touring route.
What to expect on a tandem jump
Tandem skydiving needs no experience — you're harnessed to a qualified instructor who manages the exit, freefall and landing. After check-in and a briefing you'll board the aircraft, climb to altitude over the glacier country, freefall for under a minute, then descend under canopy with the ice, forest and mountains below.
Aircraft
Jumps are flown from a Fletcher FU-24 turbine, a capable turbine platform suited to climbing quickly in this mountainous terrain. For current jump altitudes and operating days, check directly with the dropzone.
Getting there
Fox Glacier sits on the South Island's West Coast, on the touring route that links the glaciers with Wānaka and Queenstown over the Haast Pass. A rental car is essentially the way to reach this part of the country; confirm the meeting point and check-in time when you book, and allow for the region's changeable weather.

This is a remote, weather-sensitive region — prices, altitudes, aircraft and availability can change, and jumps depend heavily on conditions. Confirm current details directly with Skydive NZ Fox Glacier before booking.
